Course on English Phonetics and Phonology: Pronunciation Instruction for Brazilians
Description of the course: In this course, students will be introduced to the sound system of English, with a focus on the main transfer processes shown by Brazilian learners in the acquisition of L2 pronunciation. The course aims to provide both a theoretical and a practical background in English Phonetics and Phonology, so that participants can not only improve their own pronunciation, but also make use of the theoretical information to guide their teaching practice.

Professor Ubiratã Kickhöfel Alves is a full-time professor at the Graduate Program of Applied Linguistics at Universidade Católica de Pelotas (UCPel) in Brazil. He holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul, and has worked as an EFL instructor for more than 10 years
